At our 45 White Oak project, we created two staircases: the main architectural entryway staircase and a basement staircase, each with its own custom handrail. The main-level staircase is defined by an elegantly sculpted plaster handrail that acts as a natural continuation of the first- and second-floor walls. As the staircase curves and the plaster handrail loops around the corner, it meets a parallel white oak railing that offers greater support while still seamlessly integrating into the serene, luxury design. This gives the room a minimalistic appearance that is simultaneously striking. 

The basement staircase featured a more traditional metal handrail, but we ensured a luxury finish by building the handrail into the wall. By installing the standoffs inside of the wall and attaching them directly to the blocking, we were able to achieve the illusion of a stainless steel rod protruding seamlessly out of the wall with no visible hardware.

This is especially impactful for floating staircases, creating the illusion that each step is truly hovering in space.
